Mailbox Monday is being hosted for January by At Home with Books. It highlights books which came into one's home for the week.
The books I had this week were all courtesy of Carnegie library.
The Sugar Queen - Sarah Addison Allen
The Last Will of Moira Leahy - Therese Walsh
Death in Hyde Park - Robin Paige
A rather lovely inheritance - C A Belmond
The Dark Enquiry - Deanna Raybourn
Other than the Robin Paige book, all my choices have been influenced by reviews on book blogs I follow. I am just
delighted that I am able to get my hands on the books as and when I read about them.
The meme hosted by Sheila of Book Journey highlights what one is reading right now.
The book right now is Death in Hyde Park by Robin Paige. Set in 1902 starting with the coronation of King Edward VII - a Victorian mystery. I have just started finding books of this period so this is a new one for me.
Books read and reviews not done as yet for this week are :
Cold Comfort Farm - Stella Gibbons
Haunting Bombay - Shilpa Aggarwal (my first read for the South Asian challenge 2012)
The Dark Enquiry - Deanna Raybourn
Lots of reading to get done and so many books on reserve as well at the library. Leaving Melbourne on the 22nd so I am trying to read as much as possible!

Hi Mystica,
ReplyDeleteThat's a great selection of books in your mailbox this week.
I checked a few of them out and the only one that I wasn't too sure about was 'The Sugar Queen', although I shall reserve judgement on it until I have read your review.
Most of my books these days come from fellow bloggers recommendations and I have even been introduced to genres that I wouldn't normally read and found myself enjoying them.
The trouble is, my reading lists are now becoming as impossible a task to ever complete, as my existing TBR pile which isn't getting any smaller either.
Have a great week
I haven't heard of any of the books you've received or are reading. I hope you enjoy them.
ReplyDeletePlease come see what I'm reading now.
Lots to keep you going this week :)
ReplyDeleteI read and enjoyed The Sugar Queen a while back.
Have a great week

I've heard The Sugar Queen is outstanding! I hope you love the books you checked out.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see that you were able to get a copy of "The Last Will of Moira Leahy". I've read it, and I think that you'll enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteYou had a good week, I do like Sarah Addison Allen's writing. Have a great week & happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteI am curious about Haunting Bombay. I do love books set in India.
ReplyDeleteYou have an interesting set of books. The Paige mystery sounds good as well as Haunting Bombay. Looking forward to your review.
ReplyDeleteI should check out the books at my local library too! They always seem to have good selections.
ReplyDeleteCold Comfort Farm is a classic I hope to read this year at some point. Hope you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI think The Sugar Queen looks intriguing...haven't yet read anything by Sarah Addison Allen, but I'm tempted.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
So nice you can get all the books you want. I often have problems with that, as I'm not in an English-speaking country and lots of books only make it to the library once they are translated (which takes a while), or not at all.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
I've heart good things about The Sugar Queen. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThe Dark Enquiry sounds intriguing, as does Death in Hyde Park. I love Victorian mysteries!
ReplyDeleteIt's Monday! What Are You Reading?
This one is the most intriguing to me. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI have some C.A. Belmond on my TBR stack. They were recommended highly by someone in this meme. It looks like you are enjoying them.
ReplyDeleteDollycas

ReplyDeleteIt looks like you got some fun books!
ReplyDeleteThe Sugar Queen is on my wishlist, although it's hard to get hold of Sarah Addison Allen here. Look forward to seeing what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to read a Deanna Raybourn book. I think this is the year :)
ReplyDeleteGreat mailbox! I loved The Sugar Queen. I just finished reading Raybourn's Dark Road to Darjeeling so I'll be reading The Dark Enquiry soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Hope you have a wonderful week of reading!
ReplyDeleteHere's my post
thanks so much for stopping by--enjoy your reading.
ReplyDeletePretty impressive, Mystica!
ReplyDeleteGreat books, which reminds me that I HAVE a Raybourn title on my shelf (purchased solely on the recommendation of a fellow blogger) - I may tag it on to the end of my current reading list!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reading week!
