The Short Drop by Matthew Fitzsimmons

If I had to choose a book by its cover, this would never have drawn me in but in this case it was an e book and it was the story which drew me in.

Suzanne Lombard disappeared at the age of fourteen. She was the daughter of the Vice President and it is ten years since the incident happened. No amount of investigation brought any sight of her and despite a reward of one million dollars, nothing has happened. It seems that the case is now dead but not quite.

The Vice President is now canvassing for the post of President and his former head of Security is now asking for Gibson Vaughan's assistance in the matter. Mostly because though the case is closed the reward is still open and one of the messages that have come in seems intriguing and baffling.
Unravelling the story behind Suzanne's disappearance and the subsequent story that emerges is a plausible and very believable story!

The manner in which procedures in the FBI, the general security of the hierarchy amongst politicians in the United States and the force and authority that they possess was remarkably told.

A very good story which will capture your interest, touching on several genres in the process.
