Mailbox Monday hosted by Dolce Bellezza for June.
I love books set in colonial India. Sri Lanka did not share such a colorful colonial history as India did. The British built a wonderful system of roads and railways in Sri Lanka, established the Railway Department and practically the entire system of Government but the actual stories of Britishers in Sri Lanka are not as colorful or vivid as those who lived in India.
Hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Still playing catch up with work - only being back five days to so much to do.
Re reading a couple of Georgette Heyers as I do not seem to have much time for reading.
Under the Jewelled Sky looks so good! I love stories set in colonial India too and I haven't heard of this one before but it's one I want to check out now.

ReplyDeleteUnder the Jeweled Sky sounds really good. It won't be published in the States till next year I think.
ReplyDeleteIndu Sundaresan has a new book being published later this year that is also about colonial India (The Mountain of Light) and sounds promising.

Mystica, the book sounds very interesting. I have, in fact, been going through a few historical books on colonialism in India and related issues mostly written by Englishmen, many of whom were stationed in India during the British occupation. These are available as copyright-free books. They're mostly documentary stuff but contain a wealth of information.
ReplyDeleteI'm really acquiring the books here at the ALA conference! I should have enough to carry me through the winter!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover and the setting - the book sounds terrific!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed a few books set in India and this one looks good as well.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds good and what a beautiful cover! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever read a book set in Colonial India. Unless you can't A Little Princess, which I'm not sure you can. But I think I'd love them as well, and definitely will be looking out for this one!
